Spring makes it's own statement, so loud and clear that the gardener seems only to be only one of the instruments, not the composer. ~Geoffrey B. Charlesworth

March

  • Thursday, March 1, 7:00 P.M., Park Gables Co-ops Community Room, 2472 W. Estes*, Chicago - The Care of Your Tree(s) and Plantings in Your Parkway. Speaker Martha Meyer, an NGS member, Master Gardener and TreeKeeper, will share her knowledge and experiences.

* Getting there:

The Park Gables Co-op buildings face the north side of Indian Boundary Park (Estes Ave.) and back up to Fitch Ave. Street parking is available on Fitch Ave. or Estes Ave. Estes does not go through between Western and Rockwell so you can reach the west end of Estes via Rockwell or the east end via Western Ave. Car-pooling is suggested as parking may be difficult. If you park on Fitch, walk south along the building toward the park to get to the entry.  The Community Room is located in the west building (there are two buildings) at the first door on the left as you face the courtyard of that building from Indian Boundary Park. There will be a balloon placed at the entrance so you will know which door to enter.

February

  • Thursday, February 2, 7:00 P.M., Warren Park Fieldhouse - Attracting Birds and Butterflies to the Garden. Speaker, Marian Thill, spoke to us several years ago and we have invited her back to once again share the photos of her beautiful gardens and her expertise on providing a home for our winged friends.
    Marian earned her Master Gardener Certificate from the Chicago Botanic Garden and became a Certified Naturalist through the Morton Arboretum. She is also a Bird Monitor though the Bird Conservation Network. Marian is currently using her vast wealth of knowledge to educate children and adults on how to use native plantings to attract birds and butterflies to local gardens.
